About this shark
This shark was captured in Andros, The Bahamas, and is the beautiful animal in the images featured.
About this adoption
This shark is female, measures a total length of ~ 270cm, and in summer 2021 was fitted with a PIT and casey tag, in addition to a 9 month- 1 year SPOT (Smart Position or Temperature Transmitting) aka satellite tag.
The SPOT tag records and stores water temperature and transmits to Argos satellites each time the shark surfaces giving us a location. On adoption we’ll provide rough information on your sharks location/s, however we will not be able to share exact data or location points.
Regarding the PIT and casey tags, these do not transmit signals, but are scanned or seen by researchers during recapture. If your shark is recaptured and Saving the Blue are notified, we’ll excitedly reach out to you with an update!
In exchange for this adoption, you will have the privilege of naming her, you’ll receive an electronic adoption certificate, and we’ll excitedly reach out to you with regular weekly updates or whenever the shark surfaces, which provides us with her latest movements/location!
