About this adoption
This shark is female, measures a pre caudal length of ~220cm, and was fitted with a Casey tag; this type of tag does not transmit signals, but is seen by researchers during a recapture. We’ll only get further information on this shark if we or other scientists catch it again. In exchange for this adoption donation, you will have the privilege of naming her, you will receive an adoption certificate, and if we recapture your shark, we will excitedly be in touch with an update!
General Information
Sandbars are a beautiful species that are often identified by their seemingly oversized dorsal fin! This is a species whose population was in decline, but is bouncing back and now seen frequently on the east coast of Florida. If a shark with a comeback story is what you are looking for, then the Sandbar is the shark for you!
On adoption we’ll provide rough information on your shark’s location/s, however we will not be able to share exact data or location points.
** Your adoption certificate will be sent as a PDF to your email address **
